Impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the Coffee Production Market:

The COVID-19 epidemic has put additional pressure on the coffee industry at risk of international coffee prices, lower production rates, and the effects of climate change and the damage caused by pests and diseases worldwide. In addition, governments have put in place measures, such as social sanctions and closures, which have had a profound effect on restaurants, micro-roasters, restaurants, and other out-of-home areas that have had a significant impact on the market. However, the current trend in home-cooked online shopping is forcing retailers, rosters, and consumers to adjust to this new reality. Coffee sales were particularly robust as consumer stockpiled essential items during the pandemic.

Coffee Production Market Dynamics:

According to liquid beverage estimates, coffee is among the most widely consumed beverages in the world at about 42.6 liters per person per year (12.6 liters of roasted coffee and 30 liters of instant coffee). In this regard, tea boasts a high price (85 liters per drink per person per year), but in terms of value, coffee is much larger as more coffee powder is consumed than tea per liter of beverage. Coffee price sales have continued in recent years in the outdoor industry, which is more suitable for this category than many other beverage categories. In 2021, the Hot Drinks market generates US $ 634.4 revenue billion worldwide. 65%, coffee was a major part of the hot drinks market US $ 409.9 billion in revenue by 2021.

The best varieties of coffee, such as coffee pods and capsules and instant coffee, are becoming popular among the masses (especially in North America and Western Europe) in order to produce good coffee in a comfortable place, in a short time. For example: according to a study by the National Coffee Association in the United States, more than 70% of consumers prefer home-made coffee.

The market is driven by a number of factors, a number of which are growing in demand for certified coffee products, the adoption of consumer coffee systems by consumers, and the ongoing innovation led by leading players in the coffee market. In the developed economy, some consumers are expected to switch from instant coffee to other premium options due to quality and aroma. Fast coffee was once considered a top product but began to lose its base for small consumers, which is changing the market dynamics.

Coffee Production Market Segment Analysis:

Based on the variety/type of coffee beans:  Arabica beans are the most popular type of coffee bean, making up about 60% of the world's coffee. These delicious beans originated hundreds of years ago in the highlands of Ethiopia, and may be the first coffee beans ever eaten! The name Arabica is probably derived from the bean sprout in 7th-century Arabia (modern-day Yemen).

Arabica beans is that they are hard to grow. Because of this, Arabica beans are very expensive. All coffee beans grow in the so-called Bean Belt, located between the Tropic of Cancer and Capricorn, in 50 countries around the world. But Arabica beans need extra shade, water, and high altitude to grow well. These plants are susceptible to plant diseases and should be planted at a height of at least 2,000 meters. They are also small plants, measuring between 25 and 15 feet [8 and 15 m] when fully grown.

The second most popular type of coffee bean is Robusta. The bean is native to sub-Saharan Africa and is now widely grown in Africa and Indonesia. It is also very popular in Vietnam and is often mixed with coffee grounds. It is an inexpensive variety, making it the most budget-friendly option for fried. Robusta beans are larger and more rounded than other types of beans. These plants usually grow much larger than the Arabica plants, measuring between 15 and 40 feet [15 and 20 m]. Robusta beans are generally regarded as strong because they can grow in low-lying areas and are resistant to disease. But recent research indicates that they do not treat heat as previously thought.

It is native to central and western Africa - mainly Liberia, hence its name - Coffea liberica is known for its fragrant floral scent and bold profile, and the aroma of smoke. This solid type is often mixed with other types to increase body mass and complexity, but it is rarely found in debt. Unknown to Western civilization before the end of the 1800s, Liberica gained momentum with Southeast Asian coffee producers after a fungus ("coffee rust") wiped out most of the region's Arabica plants.

Growing on a plant much larger than Arabica or Robusta, many Liberica cherries tend to stand out and approach Robusta in size and appearance. It is also tolerant of hot, humid climates and performs well on low temperatures. Now mainly produced in Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines, beans make up about 2% of the world's coffee. More than 95% of the Malaysian coffee crop is Liberica beans. However, they are not commonly found in the North American and European markets.

The fourth largest type of coffee bean is called Excelsa. Although once considered a unique coffee brew, scientists have recently redefined it as a variant of Liberica. Excelsa beans grow almost entirely in Southeast Asia, and are shaped like the Liberican beans - long ovals. These beans grow in large coffee plants 20 to 30 feet [30 to 30 m] high in the central highlands.
